The 2015 Welsh Proms - Schedule of Events
The full schedule of events for the 30th anniversary season of the Welsh Proms can be found below. Taking place from 18 to 25 July, the 2015 Welsh Proms will include performances from the world renowned Philharmonia Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, The Cory Band & Massed Male Choir, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra as well as the inestimable, incomparable Last Night of the Welsh Proms . Soloists John Lill CBE, David Childs and Angharad Morgan & David Fortey will all feature together with the world premiere performances of new works by composers Paul Mealor and Johan De Meij.

The Philharmonia Orchestra Conductor: Owain Arwel Hughes CBE Opening the 30th season of Welsh Proms, Owain Arwel Hughes conducts the world renowned Philharmonia Orchestra in some of the most dramatic music and most tender themes ever composed. From the ancient Egypt of Verdi's Aida to the outer space of John Williams' Star Wars, join us for an evening of evocative tales told in music by the world's greatest composers, all culminating in Tchaikovsky's epic 1812 overture! Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Conductor: Owain Arwel Hughes CBE Soloist: John Lill CBE, piano Renowned pianist John Lill joins Owain Arwel Hughes and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in a sumptuous programme of celebrated works by master composers Mendelssohn, Wagner, Rachmaninoff and Elgar. One of Britain’s best-loved pianists, Lill’s playing has been hailed as “fiercely passionate and romantic.” He returns to the Welsh Proms in one of the most romantic of all piano concertos, Rachmaninov’s Second, its themes suffused with tender longing. Hear this next to the drama of Wagner, the soufflé-lightness of Mendelssohn’s Scherzo, and Elgar’s masterful Enigma Variations. A Night In Vienna

A feast of beloved classics in an atmosphere of high spirits, all under the leadership of Owain Arwel Hughes, this year also featuring the technical brilliance and panache of international brass soloist David Childs. Bring your flags & streamers and be ready to join in the singing and celebrations that will bring this year’s landmark 30th season of Welsh Proms to a rousing conclusion.
